Gum Disease

It can be easy to mistake the pain of gum disease such as gingivitis or periodontitis as a toothache. Infection of the gums can be caused by the buildup of dental plaque and poor dental hygiene.

This results in painful inflammation, bleeding and swelling of the gums. If left untreated, tooth loss and permanent damage to the gums is inevitable. When caught early, gum disease can be treated with antibiotics and fluoride products.
